This table shows rates for conventional fixed-rate mortgages through U.S. Bank. The current interest rate is the rate at which banks can borrow money from the central bank. The interest rates are used by central banks to shape monetary policy. The summary records the current and historic interest rates for each central bank. Current repo rate is 5.15% Reverse Repo rate is the short term borrowing rate at which RBI borrows money from banks. The Reserve bank uses this tool when it feels there is too much money floating in the banking system. An increase in the reverse repo rate means that the banks will get a higher rate of interest from RBI. The central bank policy rate (CBPR) is the rate that is used by central bank to implement or signal its monetary policy stance. It is most commonly set by the central banks policy making committees (e.g. Fed Open Market Committee). The underlying financial instrument of the CBPR varies per country and is explained in the metadata. It is rate at which scheduled banks can borrow funds overnight from RBI against government securities. It is very short term borrowing scheme for scheduled banks. Bank Rate: It was unchanged at 6.75%. It is rate charged by central bank for lending funds to commercial banks. Higher bank rate will translate to higher lending rates by banks.
